Website for search engines or for people?

As I was browsing through the internet I visited a few websites that were positioned at the top (the top 5) in google. But after viewing those websites I was quite disappointed and left right away. What was the problem? Bad design? No.

The design was actually quite nice in most cases but it was the copy of the first page I visited. The copy was written for search engines rather then for people.

This is a common mistake I see in SEO (Search Engine Optimization) . The website seems to be build for search engines rather then for people. There are keywords all over the place and when you read the copy you just get frustrated.

Ironically one of the worst cases I saw was on a website offering web design and search engine optimization. They just had a list of keywords put in a paragraph.

What I am trying to say here is that you may get a lot of traffic going to your website thanks to your SEO but you probably won’t have a lot of sales coming from that traffic.

So just keep in mind that optimization for the search engines is important but your website should be build for people in the first place.
